Paul Krugman of the New York Times called Ben a zombie a couple of months back, now op-ed columnist Gail Collins is after Ben as well:
Since Nelson is a Democrat from a red state, if he decided to vote against the health care plan, I would greet the news with perfect equanimity. But he is threatening to stop the bill from coming up to a vote entirely, unless it meets his criteria, which include keeping the House section on abortion and not keeping the House section on a public option.
After dissing the Benator, Collins takes pains to distinguish him from the lovely people of Nebraska:
Still, I have always heard Nebraska is full of lovely people, even if there are only about 1.7 million of them. Also, it has a unicameral Legislature, which means there is no senate. And that is a swell idea that we should all consider emulating
Demo-publican, Republi-crat, a one-man party for sale.

Google Medicare Part D roll call.
Check out the list of Democrats who crossed over, in passing the $900B pharmeceutical giveaway. (More expensive than the measure currently in debate) The legislation prohibitted the government from bargaining with providers over the cost of drugs, leaving millions of freedom lovers to fend for themselves against the drug companies. Oh, and the legislation made no provision for the payment of this entitlement. Even Chuck Hagel couldn’t stomach it. But Ben did. Along with Sen. Lincoln from Arkansas, and Landrieu from Louisiana. The same three ‘conservative’ Democrats who are holding out (or up) today.
